Choosing a floor

What flooring is best for a basement?

Luxury vinyl plank or tile. Both handle moisture from a concrete slab. Solid hardwood should never go below grade; engineered hardwood only after a moisture test with proper underlayment. Luxury vinyl

Which floor is best with dogs?

Luxury vinyl with a thick wear layer, or tile. For real wood with a dog, choose hickory or white oak in a matte finish. For carpet, triexta or solution-dyed nylon over a moisture-barrier pad. Flooring guide

Questions

How much does it cost to refinish hardwood floors?

It depends on square footage, finish coats, stain change, and repairs, and it is consistently less than replacement. We quote after seeing the floor. Refinishing

Three to five days for an average main floor, longer for stain changes or repairs. Water-based finishes shorten it. Refinishing

How often should hardwood be refinished?

Every ten to fifteen years in a busy home, or when water stops beading on the surface and bare wood shows in walk paths. Refinishing

Can engineered hardwood be refinished?

If the real-wood wear layer is about 2.5 millimeters or thicker, usually once. The National Wood Flooring Association's general rule is that thinner wear layers should not be sanded. Refinishing

Who does the refinishing at Boyle's?

Boyle's own people. We have two refinishing crews on staff and a painter who touches up baseboards and stair parts afterward. Refinishing
